What Separates a Good Epoxy Floor from a Bad One
Almost every failed epoxy floor fails for the same reason: bad surface prep. Someone rolled coating over a lightly-pressure-washed slab, the concrete had oil in the pores, and six months later the whole thing was peeling in sheets. That’s not an epoxy problem. That’s a prep problem.
We use diamond grinders and shot blasters to mechanically open the concrete surface — not chemical etch, not power washing. Then a moisture test to make sure the slab isn’t going to push vapor through the coating. Then a primer coat, base coat, decorative flake or metallic if that’s the look, and finally a UV-resistant polyaspartic topcoat. Done right, the floor is walk-on in a day and full-cure in a week.

Solid Color
Clean, professional look. Standard for residential garages that want a finished floor without a lot of visual noise.
Decorative Flake
Broadcast vinyl flakes into the base coat for a textured, terrazzo-look finish. Hides tire marks and dropped tools. Most popular residential option.
Metallic
Pigmented base plus metallic pearls that shift under light. High-end look for showrooms, home gyms, and finished basements.
Commercial / Industrial

How much does an epoxy garage floor cost in Cleveland?
Every floor is priced on the actual job — square footage, condition of the existing slab, moisture readings, crack repair, and which coating system you go with (solid color, decorative flake, or metallic). Commercial and industrial systems price differently based on durability requirements. Keith comes out, moisture-tests the slab, and quotes it in writing.
How long does an epoxy floor last?
A properly prepped and installed epoxy floor with a polyaspartic topcoat should hold up 10–15 years in a residential garage, longer in a basement or workshop that doesn’t see road salt. The topcoat can be re-applied every 5–7 years to refresh clarity and gloss without a full re-do.
Can epoxy handle hot tires and road salt?
Yes — but only if the topcoat is polyaspartic or a similarly UV-stable, chemical-resistant system. Cheap DIY epoxy kits will yellow, crack, and lift under hot tires. Our systems are formulated for the Cleveland reality — hot summer garage floors and salt-covered tires in winter.
How long is the garage out of commission?
Prep and coat over two days. Walk-on the day after the topcoat. Vehicles back in about a week to let the coating reach full chemical cure. If timing matters, we can schedule around your calendar.
Will epoxy cover existing cracks and stains?
Cracks get filled with epoxy crack filler as part of prep — the coating goes over them and hides them. Oil stains get chemically degreased and mechanically ground out before coating. If the slab is heaving or has through-cracks, we’ll be honest about it: no coating fixes a structurally failing slab.
